This is the Flanders field poppy of Memorial Day and will always bloom then and throughout the late spring. Foliage is hairy and finely dissected. Needs light soil and open spaces, competes well with grasses. Sow the seeds where you want them to grow in summer or fall because they do not transplant and they seem to germinate in late winter. We use these whenever we can to add bright red papery texture to the meadow and garden border.
