| Joepye weed is my favorite magnet flower for the swallowtail butterflies. They love the puffy pink round clouds of airy flowers borne atop the tall, stout stems (no staking needed here). Large leaves are whorled aroung the stems. To shorten the plant at bloom time. Cut back to 1/2 height in June.
Very unusual addition to the back border. Cut back in spring to produce bushier, shorter plants. We have both E. purpureum, and E. maculatum, please specify if you have preference. Both are highly adaptable and easy from seed. |
